A family memento.  Here's the story the quilt owner told:

This quilt was made for us by our friend Shelia in England.  It was given to us as a thank you gift for housing her daughter one summer.  Her daughter, Sally, was twenty years old and wanted very much to work one summer in the Chicago area.  Our youngest son was staying at college that summer, so we had an extra bedroom.  We spent a delightful summer with Sally who quickly became our English "daughter".  We later attended Sally's wedding in Broughton, England.  Sally has made subsequent trips ...

Vergangenes Jahr hatte ich das Glück, an einem sehr schönen Nähwochenende teilnehmen zu dürfen. Dazu mitgenommen hatte ich verschiedene Projekte, von denen ich eigentlich tatsächlich nur an einem aus lauter Lustgewinn gearbeitet habe. Ich hatte mir eine Menge Log Cabin 6,5" Inch FPP ausgedruckt und eine Kiste mit den bunten Reststreifen mitgenommen. So entstanden 28 fertige Log Cabin Blöcke. Die lagen jetzt annähernd ein Jahr in der Kiste rum ohne dass ich eine Idee hatte, was damit anzufangen.... September was a good month for me, after all.  I was busy with wedding clothing alterations and helping out with rehearsal dinner and wedding brunch.  Glad that is over.

So, let's see what I did last month for the September Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge.

Binding got sewn onto this quilt and it is now finished.  This quilt won't be shown just yet as I'm adding in some hand quilting around the applique.  I know I'm fussy, but that is what makes me happy.  Sometime in ...

This is the UFO that I've decided to finish for my BIL.  There are quite a few pieces already made and it won't take too long to see progress.

My little great nieces have each separately asked me for another quilt.  So, guess what I will be doing next year for their birthdays.  Something simple and I will be going through my mags and Pinterest photos for some ideas.

Then my sister asked if I had a spare queen size quilt for her husband.  I looked but none that are masculine.  Then, going through my ufo's, there are two that can made into that size.  So, he will be getting this one .....

Quilt-Alongs

One of the good things that came from Covid is the Quiltalong which kept us busy once we had finished making masks.  We could hop online and join like minded quilters quilting along and sharing our project online. Recently some of the customers at the Old Craft Store joined me in an IN PERSON QUILTALONG. It was fun and of course we had them parade their quilt tops out along the downtown square.

To me, the equivalent in quilting to comfort food is the log cabin block in all of its variations.  I needed that comfort, so here is another variation of a quarter log cabin.  I've chosen 1/2-inch logs for a 4-inch block in browns and pinks.  In the interest of frugality, the border is composed of 15 strips of leftover pink scraps.

THE STATS:  Brownie Points, 2024,  26"X26", Paper pieced, Machine pieced, Machine quilted.  Number nerd reports 484 pieces in the top.

I like the first Log Cabin design this week, simple by eye catching.

The second one has a star in the middle too, but different to the first one.

The third is rather neat and tidy, and I like it a lot.

Turning four blocks around makes a big difference. I like it better than the last one.

Seeing a star again to finish today’s selection of Log Cabin quilt designs.

All of the designs in this project file can be made with the same blocks … with identical fabrics in all, or well sorted scraps, and just keep playing ...

Dashing Doors

I received a half-yard bundle of Breezy Collection.  Purples, Greens, Coral and Pink make this a lovely collection.
